How to come up with an excellent storyline.

Tips and suggestions from a very neighborly comic creator:
                                     Subhodeep Ghosh

Create action-packed storylines for superhero origins or for special editions.

This is the very beginning of a new era where creation of comics would be a respectful profession.

I know, it's really hard to imagine comics creation as a profession. Now many of you would point some names from west Bengal or bangladesh who got famous all over the world. Many of the staffs of Raj comics or marvel or DC are from this part of the world. But it's not what I am talking about. It's actually making the youngsters dream about becoming a comic creator. A dream about chasing their dream. To make them think that this is also a good career option for you and you don't have to necessarily drop your dream in order to have a decent job. People usually think that becoming a comic creator takes a strong nerve, specially in this damn rat-race. But if you follow your passion nothing is impossible.

Enough talking, now I shall show you how it works. In today's blog, I shall talk about how you can come up with a good and genuine story.

At first, take a pen and paper and start putting down a story. Let it be rough. Let it be unscientific. Let it be irrelevant. You just need some words. Then leave it there for one and two days. After that, your mind would find a lots of stories related to the one you wrote. It's very important to write down a story at the very beginning. Let the time being and each time you come up with definite ideas or different endings of your story, put it down.
 Just remember some basic points.

1 : Don't come up with too many characters

2: Feel free to be inspired by other storylines unless you are going to submit it for any magazine.

3: Try to avoid speedsters or complicated things (like time travel, other dimensions, power projection) cause u will face problem during the drawing part.

4: use a tragic beginning. With someone's murder or kidnapping or other crimes. Then switch between showing the crime scene bit by bit and showing the heroisms bit by bit. Then end with a sudden blow but never complete the story in a way that doesn't leave any questions in reader's mind.

6: Try to give a point from where you can add new storylines or change the flow of the story.

7: always make rough sketches if you can't really explain what's going on. Or while you are thinking the story try to see it inside your head. Like you r watching your character or super hero.. what's he doing, what's he telling. And draw a quick sketch about that.
